Entry is between 8.30am and 12pm departure time is 4 PM.

We are located at 114 Moanui road, From Matawai stay on state highway 2 heading to Opotiki,  travel 7.2 kilometers and turn onto Te wera road from there travel 1 kilometre and turn onto Moanui road then travel another 1.1 kilometres and you’ll be at your destination, There are signs at Te Wera and Moanui turn offs. Google Maps Link  From Opotiki travel 64 kilometres, cross the motu river, Te wera road is on your right

Tours may be cancelled due to severe weather or hazards on the track. You will be notified by 8 PM the night before. If cancelled due to weather or hazards a credit will be issued. If no suitable dates are available,  a refund can be arranged ( minus the booking fee)

Please check with your insurance provider, as off-road activities may not be covered.

Yes, we perform safety checks on all 4WD vehicles.

All staff are first aid certified and fully trained for emergencies.

  • Your 4WD vehicle (see requirements below)
  • Personal locator beacon - at least one per group. These can be hired from the Gisborne Information Centre. 
  • First aid kit
  • Essential tools: shovel, jack, etc.
  • Fire extinguisher 
  • Spare tyre 
  • Warm clothing, hat, sunglasses, and sturdy footwear
  • Camera to capture the epic moments!
  • Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks

  • You need to have a personal locator beacon 

  • A first aid kid

  • Tyre repair kit

  • Snacks and sturdy footwear (no jandals or flip-slops)

  • Warm clothing, hat, sun block

No, alcohol is not permitted.

No, animals are not allowed.

  • On two way directional tracks: 25 km/h. On one directional tracks: 40 km/h. Use caution on loose sections and keep to the left.  

Stick to speed limits, use headlights, and keep left, No alcohol.

Yes, book online at least 24 hours before. Booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment.

No, firearms are not permitted.

No, for safety reasons you must stay on designated routes.

No, campfires are not allowed.

Yes, all 4WD vehicles must have a valid WOF and registration. ATV’s and side-by-sides must have adequate tread depth and working brakes.

Yes, seatbelts must be worn at all times.

Tracks are clearly marked, and you'll receive a trail map. You will need a personal locator beacon If you're not back by 4 PM, we will come to look for you. 

Yes, a Full valid NZ driver's license is required 18+

Yes, but please stop safely on the outside of the track and only where it is safe to do so. Tag us on social media!

Most medical conditions won't prevent you from participating, but please bring any necessary medications. Our guides are first aid trained, and we have emergency procedures in place.

You must put safety first. Abide by all good recovery techniques, do not physically push or pull or climb on top of vehicles,  Stand clear of all straps under tension, Seek assistance if in doubt.

Yes, gift vouchers are available.

Yes, there is a long-drop toilet at home base

We are open from 1 November through to May

Cancellation needs to happen 48 hours prior to booking date, however please call, we are here to help.

There is cell phone reception on top of the main ridge at front of property. In an emergency use your  personal locator beacon.

  • If bringing your own 4WD or ATV, the driver must have prior experience in 4WD. The tracks are not for beginners. 
  • Must be 18+ with full drivers license or have done an ATV training course and be able to provide a certificate.
  • For the family guided tours, no prior off-road driving experience is required. Our expert guides will give you a thorough safety briefing and instruction before the tour begins.

We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear (no open-toed shoes or sandals). In colder weather, bring layers, as it can get chilly on the trail.

Yes, there is ample parking available at our location for cars, 4WD vehicles, and trailers.

Yes, children can participate, but age restrictions apply depending on the vehicle. Please refer to our minimum age requirements for specific tours.

We recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks. There are no food services on-site.

Tours generally proceed in light rain, but they may be cancelled for safety reasons in the case of severe weather. If your tour is cancelled, you will be notified before 8pm the night prior.

Cell phone reception is limited to the highest points on the front of the property . All parties must have a Personal Locator Beacon  in case of a emergency.
